The 300-hour B Yoga Teacher Training Program is an in-depth, comprehensive training that catapults teachers with 200-hour certification to the next level. With this certification teachers are well-prepared to teach lucrative and highly sought after therapeutic and pre-natal private sessions.
The 300-hour program starts with a review of yoga postures and the basic techniques for teaching them with an emphasis on mindful sequencing and alignment. Then trainees begin an immersion into several areas of yoga practice and teaching. Trainees learn how to teach therapeutic, pre-natal and restorative yoga, as well as how to offer modifications to students in public classes. Trainees are also given the opportunity to teach pro bono classes in the public school system, local hospitals and community centers as a way to share what they have learned with the community while fine-tuning their skills.
The training includes study of the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, with emphasis on applying the wisdom of these texts to teaching classes. Trainees learn how to use Ayurvedic Principles to assess the needs of their students. Trainees also practice incorporating mantra, chanting and yoga nidra (yoga sleep or guided relaxation) into their classes. Trainees are taught how to establish a schedule of classes, how to obtain and set fees for private lessons and how to manage their finances as independent contractors. They also learn how to manage their energy, to stay healthy and avoid burn out.
