B Yoga Therapy - Private Sessions

Yoga Chikitsa means Yoga Therapy. The practice of yoga has been prescribed for millennia to aid in the healing process of a myriad of ailments, to slow the process of aging and prevent disease. Traditionally these therapeutic practices were given by a teacher to one student to practice diligently over a period of time. In modern society, we are often encouraged by doctors or other health practitioners to do yoga for a variety of reasons. However, public classes are designed under the assumption that the students in the class are reasonably healthy, and generally coming to class to increase strength, balance and flexibility and to reduce stress. Therefore students coming to yoga with injuries or health problems may not find the class suits them. They may even end up causing more harm to the body. Yoga is a useful tool and can be good medicine, but tools can become dangerous when used incorrectly, and taking the wrong prescription can be harmful rather than beneficial.

B Yoga offers therapeutic private lessons at the studio or in your home. In these sessions a highly qualified teacher will asses your needs and design a practice specifically for you. B Yoga therapy teachers will also give you yoga prescriptives or practices to do on your own on the days when you are not working with your teacher. While yoga is not suggested in lieu of medical care or medications prescribed by a doctor, yoga therapy can be highly beneficial for people with back pain and spinal injuries, shoulder, wrist, knee and hip problems, cancer survivors, stroke victims, those with high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, scoliosis, arthritis, infertility and many other ailments.
